"Santacon KCK was inspired in December 2024"
Hello! Thank you for checking out Santacon KCK and our Foundation. Santacon KCK was inspired by the one and only New York City Santacon, a fundraiser for the arts. In December 2024 I was awe-inspired by the larger than life celebration of Christmas in New York, but especially by the throngs of Santas filling the streets, subways, and pubs of New York City. It was a site to see.... and hear! Have you heard your favorite college fight song in the NYC Subway at 9pm? I might have!
When I got home to KCKs, I knew that this was something that our city had never seen the likes of and I knew I could gather the people to make it happen and we have! Santacon KCK was born in January 2025 and will debut in KCK on December 6, 2025. We have met monthly and put so much heart into making this a day of frolicking festivities with a purpose. Our goal is to raise money for organizations in our city that support children and families - and do it with some jingle jingle Kris Kringle spirit. This year we have selected Heartland 180, Crosslines Community Outreach, and Lowriding 2 Success - all organizations that provide for families in KCK.
For me, Christmas is pure magic. My Aunt Hattie created Christmas in her home for me growing up. What a day it was each year that she pulled all of her animated Santas and his friends out of the attic and set them out on display. She invited us over to see all of her Santas, Elves, and Reindeer, including a Santa sitting in his rocker soaking his tired feet. I can still hear it say "Oh my aching feet" as it rocked back and forth.
Christmas was magic - and she was the magician. She always knew the best and most wanted gifts and delivered with enthusiasm. I carry that and more of her spirit in me. I have striven to create that Christmas magic for my own family and friends. My home is filled with Santa, Grinch, Reindeer, Elf, and Baby Jesus figures in every single room. I start shopping in July and keep my eyes and ears open all year for hints of the perfect gifts to give my family. Santacon is the next level of giving for me. Santacon is where I give to the families in my community. And I plan on giving big.. not just once, but for ages to come. I am so excited to have you on this sleigh ride with me.
